John Lyman, M.D., FACEP, Chief Clinical Officer; Steve Danosi, M.D., FACEP, Chief Clinical Officer; and Jerry Tasset, MD, FACEP, Chief Clinical Officer, lead the implementation of our innovative practice operations program, which includes:
Premier's Medical Directors provide the foundation of our corporation's success and provide the local leadership at each of our clinical sites. Premier provides both administrative and clinical resources to support our Medical Directors in their role.
We have demonstrated the ability to lead beyond the bottom line with a focus on clinical quality, service quality, and value to our communities. We accomplish this by partnering with our hospital clients to assist our sites in promoting improvements and adapting to change in the practice of medicine.
We evaluate and implement critical success factors for each clinical site. This is accomplished through various initiatives, including clinical guidelines, quality assessment/clinical improvement initiatives, monthly reporting including operations statistics with comparison to best practices, practice improvement tools including practice profiling, outcomes management, and diagnostic operational site visits.
Hospital administrators and ED managers are often puzzled by one of the greatest mysteries of the modern Emergency Department: What secret quality separates the star ED from the merely average ED? After several years of internal review of our practice and external research of best practices within other service industries, we have discovered several answers.
Our 2½ hour introductory lecture with ongoing customer interactive scenarios has been very successful for our client hospitals. The lecture is presented at staff meetings and as an ongoing performance coaching tool at each of our ED sites. Many of the concepts and ideas incorporated within our "Patient Relations and Satisfaction: Quality Service for Emergency Department Success Training Program" come from review of numerous reference articles, countless hours of research of other service industries, the input of numerous physicians within our group, and our client clinical leadership.
Premier Health Care Services has been resurveyed by the Ohio State Medical Association Focused Task Force on Accreditation and awarded accreditation for four years as a sponsor of continuing medical education for physicians.
OSMA accreditation seeks to assure both physicians and the public that continuing medical education activities sponsored by Premier Health Care Services meet the high standards of the Essentials and Standards for Accreditation as specified by OSMA.
Premier provides over 40 hours of Category I CME per year for Emergency Medicine physicians.
Our Leadership Development Program was developed to provide opportunities for individuals interested in future leadership roles within the corporation. David Romano, M.D., FACEP leads this program. Quality leadership development is an integral component of healthy corporate building for the future. Appropriate allocation of resources toward our structured leadership development program is consistent with our corporate values. Annually, six to eight physicians participate within the program.
Premier annually establishes "Clinical Best Practices" for all of our clinical sites. We believe this allows us to minimize the variability in our clinical practice and systematically improve emergency medicine care across our corporation.
Premier also supports and participates with the Emergency Department Benchmarking Alliance (EDBA) and Emergency Department Practice Management Association (EDPMA), so that we contribute to better patient care on a larger scale while bringing information back to the company and our clients on "Best Practices."
We are committed to the support and promotion of pre-hospital care providers. Premier's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Task Force meets regularly to discuss mechanisms to better support the EMS providers and departments that serve the citizens in our communities. This is accomplished through our Lectures Clearinghouse, EMSFORUM Newsletter, Educational Programs / Conferences, EMS Consulting, Research, EMS Tradeshows, EMS Products, Literature review / Dissemination, Medical Direction and HazMat / NBC Planning / Training. Our Corporate EMS Medical Director, Joan M. Kolodzik, M.S., M.D., FACEP, regularly provides continuing education opportunities, consulting, and Medical Direction advice.
Premier Health Care Services' total risk management program has an organization–wide commitment, including the board of directors, medical directors, and practitioners. Organizational integration with quality management activities continues to be essential to protecting the organization, our clients, and our physicians and physician extenders.
Tom Syzek, M.D., FACEP is the Director of Risk Management and serves as the focal point of the program. Dr. Syzek routinely interfaces with our Corporate Compliance program, Operations / Performance improvement initiatives, Credentialing / Recruiting, MBI (Premier's billing company), Education, Client hospital Risk Managers, Medical Directors, Human Resources, and our Legal Counsel.
Several key initiatives within our Risk Management Program include, Site Specific Chart Auditing / Formalized & Mandatory QI Program, Error Reduction / Patient Safety Projects, Site Operations Improvements – Triage, Throughput, Nurse call back system (Decrease AMAs, LWBS), Hiring Process/ Reference Screening / Peer Review Committee, Risk Management Site Assessments, Complaint / Compliment Management, Medical Staff Education-EMTALA, Nursing Staff Education, and Risk Management / Customer Service Alerts.
