Premier Health Care Services, Inc., an employee-owned Emergency Medicine group, has established a one-year training program in Emergency Medicine. This program is designed for physicians trained in a primary care specialty who want to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine. Participants who complete the program will be able to assess and treat patients who present with emergency conditions. Exposure to all aspects of Emergency Medicine will be covered, including pediatrics and trauma.
The program curriculum will provide both a clinical and didactic experience. The clinical experience will be obtained by working side by side with some of the best EM physicians working in emergency departments staffed by Premier Health Care Services, Inc. These mentors have been chosen based on their teaching ability and their commitment to the success of this program.
The didactic part of the program requires participants to attend weekly sessions that will cover a wide range of topics. The text “Emergency Medicine, A Comprehensive Study Guide” by Tintinalli, et al, will be reviewed and studied during the course of the year. Additionally, our unique skills course allows participants to gain hands-on experience in procedures, such as placement of chest tubes and central lines.
Participants in the program must be board eligible or board certified in a primary care specialty such as Family Practice or Internal Medicine.
Premier Health Care Services, Inc. is committed to the success of this program. Over 35% of the physicians in Premier received their training in a primary care specialty. There are not enough EM residency trained doctors to fill the needs of many of the emergency departments across the country. Our program is designed to provide the knowledge and skills to those trained in primary care, enabling them function at a high level in any emergency department. In fact, because of the limited number of seats available, participants will have the opportunity to receive individualized, one-on-one training. Participants will also receive an annual stipend, full-time benefits, moonlighting opportunities, and eligibility for shareholder status after one year.
