Premier Health Care Services Awards Two ENA Leadership Conference Scholarships

February 11, 2008 – Premier Health Care Services Awards Two ENA Leadership Conference Scholarships.

The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) is the national association for professional nurses dedicated to the advancement of emergency nursing practice. ENA assists all nurses in emergency care settings in understanding the function, importance and impact of the role of emergency nurses through its professional publications, legislative updates and public relations activities regarding emergency nursing issues.

Premier has always supported the ENA by awarding emergency nurses scholarships to attend their professional conference.

The ENA Leadership Conference, which will be held February 27-March 2, 2008 in Honolulu, Hawaii, is designed to help build quality relationships among those involved in managing the emergency care process.

To show support, appreciation, and recognition of the excellent work that is being done by Emergency Nurse Leaders and to further professional development, Premier awarded two scholarships to attend the ENA Leadership Conference in February. The scholarships included registration fee, lodging, and air travel. Nine nominations, submitted by Emergency Department Medical Directors were received, and through a selection process by members of the Clinical Services Committee, two recipients were chosen to attend the conference.

Premier is proud to announce that Jason Alvarez RN, (pictured top right) Manager of the Emergency Department at Marion General—nominated by Dr. Paul Culler—and David Wellons, RN, Director of the Emergency Department at St. Vincent’s Hospital—nominated by Dr. Dave Johnson—were the 2008 Premier ENA Scholarship recipients.

Congratulations to both Jason and David for their professionalism, dedication and hard work they give to their emergency departments and to the practice of emergency nursing.
