Alegent Health awarded Premier Health Care Services' physician Adrian Dreessen, MD with the Spirit of Mission Award. Dr. Dreessen was nominated by Lakeside Hospital staff because of his recognized dedication to the Emergency Department (ED), with his family, friends and the community. Lakeside receives countless patient letters praising Dr. Dreessen and staff for his excellent care, and for calming the patient to give them a positive healing experience.

As a night shift physician, Dr. Dreessen leads the charge on quality, serving as a great example to the staff around him. He is responsive to the needs of patients and medical staff. He maintains a positive attitude and collaborates well with employees to make sure the patient remains at the center of care. “The night shift feels they are truly blessed to have him as ‘their doctor’ because of his calmness in any situation. His open communication with the ED staff and patients brings joy and hope to every situation,” said a Lakeside Hospital co-worker.

He goes beyond his medical duties to provide leadership at Lakeside Hospital. Dr. Dreessen is active on the Lakeside Hospital Code Blue Committee and Quality Committee. He participates in annual “Run Reviews” and maintains good relationships with Lakeside’s EMS community partners. In addition, he volunteers his time serving as Medical Director for the Waterloo Volunteer Rescue department. This role involves attending meetings, providing in-services and maintaining volunteers’ certifications.
