Dave Romano, MD, Appointed as Premier's New CMO

Dave Romano, MD Image Premier recently went through an extensive interview process to fill the newly created position of Chief Medical Officer. The CMO will work with newly established regional directors and over 40 local site medical directors. This position will also oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of the company and report directly to Bill Cole, MD, Chief Executive Officer.

It is with great pleasure that I announce that effective April 1, 2009, David Romano, MD will begin his duties in the position of Chief Medical Officer for Premier Health Care Services. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Romano served as Transitional Officer coordinating the startup of the Premier Emergency Department contract with Battle Creek Health System in Battle Creek, MI and served before that as ED Medical Director over two Premier client hospital sites from 2005 – 2007.

We had a very strong slate of applicants interested in becoming CMO, so the decision was a very difficult one. I am very excited that Dr. Romano has accepted the position. His background gives him a unique insight into managing an Emergency Department effectively. He is also well respected in the Emergency Medicine community. I’m looking forward to working with Dr. Romano as he assumes his new responsibilities.

In his new position, Dr. Romano brings over 24 years of combined clinical and administrative experience as a practicing Emergency Medicine physician and ED Medical Director. In addition, he has been an active participant and leader in various professional associations and groups in Emergency Medicine, government, hospital and EMS. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Romano joined Premier in September of 1995 as a staff physician. He graduated from Wright State University School of Medicine, Dayton, OH in 1984. His Internship and Residency in Emergency Medicine was completed at Akron City Hospital in Akron, OH, where he served as Chief Resident.

“It is a privilege to have been selected to serve as CMO. I intend to work very hard to give to Premier all my energy to continue to improve our company and the practice experience by all our providers,” states Dr. Romano regarding his new position as CMO.
