2009 EMS Stars Shine

The EMS Star of Life Awards, the pinnacle Ohio EMS event, was a night of laughter, honors, and remembrance for the many EMS squads, families and friends, new and old in attendance. Sponsored by the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, this eleventh annual dinner and awards ceremony was held May 20th at The Crowne Plaza Columbus North in Columbus, Ohio.

Included in the many notable honors bestowed that evening was the Premier Health Care Services’ Frank Giampetro Distinguished EMS Educator Award. This year’s recipient is Ellie Moore, RN, EMT-P. Ellie is a nursing instructor at Rhodes State College in Lima, OH. She has been involved in prehospital education since 1994.

The award, presented by chapter board member Dr. Mary Hancock, was accepted by Ms. Moore who was visibly moved by its presentation to her. Ms. Moore has given 15 years of EMS service to the community.

The evening’s Star of Life award winners were selected by the Chapter’s EMS Committee and presented by Premier’s own Dr. David Keseg. As nominations were read and awards presented to each of the region’s winners, former patients were tearfully re-united with the EMS staff that made a significant impact in their lives.

Congratulations to the Ohio Star of Life award winners and to all EMS providers throughout the country who we honor for their service and dedication as our first responders in the field.
