What did Premier offer that attracted you?

A physician who I liked and respected approached me. He told me about Premier’s democratic structure, paid benefits, malpractice and risk management programs, and leadership track. I also really liked Premier’s philosophy of having a career and a life.

What did Premier offer that impressed you most?

I like that Premier is led by physician colleagues who I respect and admire. The corporate support staff is excellent, and Premier employs leaders who walk the talk. I can ask for advice, help, and guidance from my peer colleagues, as well as from the business office and physician management. I can count on them.

Describe how you, as a shareholder, have a voice in the operations of the company?

As a shareholder, I have a say in Premier’s future. I can vote and have input at shareholder meetings, and I have personally gotten to know our leaders. I can also choose to run for the Board.

How has Premier helped you advance your career?

Premier sought me out to be in a position of leadership, which I am still so thankful for. I received encouragement, guidance, and training in that role. As a company, Premier is growing our next generation of leaders. Through mentoring and physician leadership, I continue to develop as a leader. Premier also sent me to The Leadership Challenge, which has been a great tool!

How has being a Premier physician affected your career in Emergency Medicine?

I feel I’m respected among my physician colleagues (both within and outside of Premier). Also, being a physician leader has brought so much job satisfaction—making positive changes, working on new processes—it’s all very exciting. I know I always have resources to back me up and help me when I need it.

What drove you to enter the practice of Emergency Medicine?

Ever since I was a young girl, being a doctor is what I wanted to do. My mom remembers me talking about it in 3rd grade. I had the support of my family and also my female pediatrician. I attended medical school at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Worth, TX, and my Emergency Medicine Residency was at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, OH.

How has Premier supported you in enjoying a balance of your lifestyle and your career?

I first joined Premier as a part-time physician and later moved into a full-time role. Premier supported and guided me as I transitioned to Medical Director and later Regional Medical Director. At Premier, I created the ideal career path for me.
